lets remain unforgiven

i picked up my little cousin today. i asked her what she’d learnt at school and she said: ‘my teacher wasnt there today, her son, i think his name was billy, was ill and his mommy had to stay with him.’

‘oh, thats a shame. you didnt learn much then?’

she was quiet for a minute and then said: ‘if billy was ill and his mommy stayed with him just becasue of that, who looks after all the children who dont have mommys?’

‘there are people whos jobs it is to look after those children.’

‘well then actually, i did learn a lot today. i learnt what i want to do when im older.’

‘and whats that?’

‘im going to be rich and im going to let all those children live with me and my mommy because everyone should have a proper mommy, not someone pretending to be one.’

i had no answer to that. shes so idealistic and im goign to do my best to make sure that never changes.
